2015 Trends – What did we see on our recent buying trip?

28 January 2015

January is our buying season, we visit the large furniture shows and our manufacturer’s factories to decide what we will stock in the showroom this year.  We always enjoy these trips and return rejuvenated and full of fresh ideas we can incorporate into our interior designs.

acabinets leftBut, its not just about ideas; these trips are primarily to buy new furniture for the showroom.  We always try to buy a wide range of stock that can provide inspiration for our customers when the visit the showroom.  This year was no exception; in fact, we are delighted with the stock we ordered – our main concern now is where we put it when it starts to arrive!

The most recent trip was a great insight into the latest trends in furniture, and a lot has changed since last year.

Small table leftReclaimed, painted timber featured in many of the ranges, also metals mixed with wood, although there is a move away from chrome finishes towards gold, brass and copper.  ‘Antique’ steel and wood was certainly very evident in many of the pieces we saw on show.  In summary, strong hints of a rustic look.

The ‘Shabby Chic’ look was also evident, we saw ‘battered’ leather sofas with loose throws on more than one of the manufacturer’s displays.  In fact, like the fashion industry, faux fur seems to feature lots this year.  We saw many examples, particularly on throws and cushion covers where it was often used along with leather.  “Hair on Hide” was a phrase we heard on a few occasions!

Cabinet furniture featured lots of reclaimed timber, a look we particularly liked.  We also ordered some beautifully made cabinet pieces in bleached walnut, you’ll be able to experience their quality when they arrive in the showroom in the Spring.

We’ve posted below all of the pictures we took on our trip, these will give you a good idea what we saw, and what you can expect to see soon in our Glasgow showroom.

All in all, we are excited about the year ahead.  We have some beautiful pieces arriving, and some great ideas to share.  Please keep reading the blog, or subscribe to our mailing list to be kept informed about all the new arrivals in the showroom.

Finally, don’t forget our annual sale is running until Monday 9th February.  We really do need to make lots of space for the new stock, so we’ve reduced the prices even further, it certainly is worth dropping in for a look.  You can see some of the clearance stock here.
