Now that we are open for business as usual, we’d like to introduce you to Carol Greenshields, our newest recruit at John Dick & Son. While she is the most recent person to join the team, she has been here for a little over a year, but we thought we’d wait until now to introduce her with the enforced closure. 

Carol has joined the sales team in the showroom. Carol comes from a sales background, but her new role is entirely different to anything she’s done in the past. Before joining John Dick & Son, Carol was on the road and involved in business development and advertising sales; however, she has always had a keen interest in design and interiors.

Carol’s communication skills served her well in the past and are already proving to be a helpful asset at John Dick & Son. However, the transition from business-to-business field sales to in-store consumer sales was significant. That said, Carol has adapted exceptionally well and is thriving in her new position.  Speaking about the move, Carol said: “I love every minute of my new role. It was a complete change for me, but it’s been easier than I first imagined, and I wish I had done it sooner.  

“I had a lot to learn, but the team here have made the whole process simple and enjoyable. Coming from a business sales background to retail sales was a big move, but it was also a big change to switch from a large corporate business to a long-established independent family business. The whole team here have welcomed me, and I already feel like a member of the John Dick & Son ‘family’. They have gone above and beyond in sharing their knowledge of the furniture industry and the products.”

Carol’s induction has been interrupted by the forced closure during the pandemic, but she is delighted to be back at work and welcoming customers to the showroom like the rest of the team. Indeed, there is a real skip in everyone’s step this week as we get back to what we do best, serving our customers and taking them through the extensive ranges in the showroom.

So, a belated welcome to Carol; we are delighted to have you onboard as a member of our sales team. We already see that your friendly and approachable nature is a perfect fit for the business, your colleagues and the customers.

We are hiring again, this time for a Sales Administrator. This position is for a new permanent staff member to manage the business’ administration and some social media responsibilities.

Applicants must be hardworking, reliable and able to work within a team. They must also communicate with suppliers and clients while being competent in IT skills such as Word and Excel. The candidate should also be creative, well organised and able to work under their own initiative.
