Is your kitchen table extended to its limits?

5 April 2020

The current lockdown is no doubt highlighting some of the shortcomings in your home.  For many, it will be the kitchen table; judging from the pictures on social media, it seems to be the place where people are congregating.

In fact, for lots of people, the kitchen table has become a multi-purpose and essential piece of furniture.  During the day, it has become a classroom or an office, in the evening it’s a games table, and occasionally you will probably eat at it.

Indeed, many people are using it for new hobbies like painting or model-making, and others have taken inspiration from ‘The Repair Shop’ and using this time to ‘fix’ that cherished, but damaged family heirloom.  In short, the kitchen table has become the focal point of the home.  Even when the current situation ends, we predict many of these newfound pastimes will continue.

So the next time you shop for a table, you should remember that while its primary purpose is for dining, it will be put to many other uses.  That being the case, you should invest in furniture that is durable and capable of hosting a multitude of activities.

Ceramic Top Tables 1Tables tops are traditionally wood or glass, both are still extremely popular, but we have a new choice which has been attracting a lot of interest – ceramic topped tables.

Ceramic is an excellent option for a table surface; it is extremely hard wearing and highly resistant to scratching and staining – ideal for daily use.  Much of the popularity is because of the choices on offer with our ceramic tables, including metallic finishes and effects, brilliant white or bold colours; the options are extensive.

And it’s not just the ceramic tops that are attracting attention, the engineering and design in these tables is certainly noteworthy. Watch the short video below you will soon appreciate the ease with which these tables extend to allow you to cater for more guests or indeed, a more ambitious restoration project!
