Shut out the cold in true style…

24 January 2012

Shutters1

We recently announced the arrival of a new range of beautiful window shutters which have proven to be extremely popular with home owners and interior designers.  Available in a range of finishes, these shutters will compliment any room but, it’s not just their aesthetic qualities that are drawing so many people to them; the shutters can dramatically reduce heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer.  So, they not only look great, they also save energy.

The “Shading Coefficient” measures the ability of your window treatment to reduce solar heat gain.  The lower the number, the less solar heat will enter your home and the lower your cooling or heating bills will be.  For example, lined curtains made of natural fabrics can cut heat loss by 14%, pretty good you may think but, installing blinds can reduce heat loss to 28%.  However, choosing wooden shutters can reduce heat loss by up to 50%.  This is because wood is a natural insulator and it’s extremely effective at keeping out the cold.

Shutters are a very stylish way to conserve energy and well worth consideration.  We offer a stunning range of handcrafted basswood interior shutters and venetians in a remarkable array of colours, wood tones and finishing touches.  We have a full selection of samples in the furniture showroom and our interior designers are always on hand to give you help with your choice should you need it.

Shutters4

We truly believe the shutters represent a worthwhile investment; not only will they enhance your home, they will say energy and ultimately money – that can’t be bad.
