The crisp of winter is lingering upon us yet the days are beginning to brighten and we can start to look forward to the freshness of spring!

Here in the interior design department at John Dick & Son the change of season brings excitement and inspiration as we begin to look at extending our vast library of fabrics and wallpapers as new collections are unveiled.

Our creative juices certainly began to flow as we were browsing the new ranges from Osborne and Little which bring new and interesting designs along with a vibrant palette of unusual colours. The stunning wallpaper and fabric collection “Fantasque”  brings a varied mix of abstract and geometric designs and was inspired by early 20th century artistic and cultural movements. La Boutique Fantasque (also known as the Magic Toyshop) was the name of a ballet conceived by Massine for the Ballet Russes to piano music by Rossini. Colours in this unique collection include vivid ultra marine, turquoise, magenta, chartreuse and burnt orange which are interspersed with calmer tones such as stone, taupe and silver. Among the many bold tones and designs in the range beautiful wallpapers also provide metallic backdrops in bronze, antique gold and gilver.

Osborne and Little are also proud to introduce textile designer Margo Selby who has been commissioned to create an exclusive collection of furnishing fabrics based on original designs from hand looms. Ragtime and Jazz are paid tribute through this unique collection which includes cut velvets and quirky patterns which are all presented in distinctive colour combinations such as grape and chartreuse with duck egg, indigo with burnt orange and teal and mandarin with coral and ice. Any fabric handpicked from here will be sure to give your room that wow factor, pop it on a cushion or upholster an accent chair to give a bold injection of style!

Hespera Velvets compliments the new offerings well with seven versatile velvets which mirror the style of Ancient Greek mythology in soothing tones of silver, shell, taupe and stone with chartreuse, sea water and teal featuring prominently alongside.

Six contemporary wallpaper designs are presented in Metallico Vinyls , a viynl wallcovering, on a wide width roll finished with a textured emboss which makes them extremely durable and washable. As the name would suggest, the metallic finishes of copper, gold, bronze and silver on offer are de rigueur in modern interior design and are married well with the various colour groups of verdigris, stone, soft grey, ivory and aqua that shine through in this collection.

A definite infusion of statement colours mixed with metallic and serene neutrals is evident throughout the current trends of interiors and furnishings and we look forward to seeing what our other design houses have to offer in our upcoming presentations! We will keep you posted……..
