When Freddie & Gordon McShannock decided to buy a holiday cottage in Bowness & Windermere they knew that getting help to design and furnish it would be invaluable. Like most of us, they are busy people and wanted the benefit of their own holiday cottage, designed to their own tastes, but without the hassle of an extended stay or multiple trips to the cottage. At John Dick & Son we always have a ‘can do’ attitude and the location posed no problem to us. Freddie & Gordon visited us in our showroom in Busby and Lynsey, one of our interior designers, put together a design scheme for the cottage based on their requirements.
Lynsey’s vision came to fruition when all the furniture and soft furnishings were delivered and installed in one day. And the McShannocks didn’t even need to be present for that either, it was all taken care of by us. They could turn up at the idyllic location, relax and enjoy their cottage as any other holiday maker would. All that was left to do by them was name it, and so ‘Ellefred Cottage’ was created.
We think the pictures speak for themselves; and others clearly agree as the cottage is marketed online and achieves high occupancy rates. Ellefred also enjoys an unusually high rate of return visitors. The property regularly exceeds visitor’s expectations and they return – and return regularly!
Here is what Gordon has to say about the advice they received.
“Lynsey , and the team at John Dick & Son were great, their attention to detail is impressive. So too is their advice. They rightly suggested high quality furniture in durable materials, a recommendation that has proven to be right and sound. Our visitor book is full of compliment about the quality of the property, and many people are returning two, three, and four times. This makes life easier for us because we are constantly increasing the number of rentals to people who are known to us because of a previous stay.”
Another notable thing about this project is what Gordon had to say about the service we provided during the design and delivery of the furniture.
“Lynsey made the whole process incredibly easy for us. We are both busy people and don’t have lots of time to spend choosing furniture and fabrics. This wasn’t a problem to them, most of the selection process was done using their online file sharing, and everything was well documented. The really impressive service came at the point of delivery. We didn’t need to be there, Lynsey and the team delivered everything you see in the house today, and installed it ready for use.”
It is something we increasingly encounter; busy people who appreciate the finer things in life but are time poor. We try to alleviate the need to spend large chunks of time selecting fabrics and approving designs. When it comes to delivery, we are happy to take control so that you can open the doors on a whole new interior without having to be there waiting around while we do our job. Now the only problem for the McShannocks is being able to stay in their own cottage, such is its popularity and demand with guests.
