It’s been a great week.
For the first time this year, we were delighted to welcome visitors back to the showroom. Traditionally, John Dick & Son is open almost every day of the year. We take major public holidays like Christmas and Easter Monday; otherwise, we’re open. It’s been that way since 1954.
The whole business revolves around welcoming customers to the showroom and encouraging them to experience the quality and breadth of the available ranges. So, you can appreciate our excitement on Tuesday morning when we reopened after the enforced shutdown. How nice it is to see people browsing around and chatting about their interiors and the projects they have had so long to ponder over.
We have been fortunate that customers have been ordering, and we’ve been able to take delivery of new stock. So, while we’ve not been able to open, we have been busy preparing to return to business as usual. We want to thank all of our customers who have been placing orders. Also, thank you to those who have been so understanding about deliveries and the measures we’ve had to put in place to ensure everyone’s safety.
As an independent family business, we rely on the local community and customer loyalty; we’ve indeed witnessed plenty of that during the past few months. We’ve tried to do as much as possible remotely, and the response has been magnificent and entirely heartwarming. However, there’s no substitute for the physical shopping experience and the ability to discuss customer’s needs face-to-face, and it’s been a genuine pleasure doing that again this week.
We are now fully open for business and looking forward to welcoming you back. We are already witnessing a recurring theme where people are keen to make changes, no doubt resulting from spending so much time at home!
