DOES WORKING FROM HOME AFFECT YOUR SOCIAL LIFE?

Nowadays, more and more people are working from home offices; if fact, the homeworker is now recognised as an important sector for  the economy.  We’ve seen various articles questioning if these workers miss out because they have less interaction both in the office and on the way to work – that’s a discussion for another day.

In this blog post we want to explore whether working from home affects your personal and social life in any way.  The smoking ban, the rising cost in dining out and the state of the economy in general means more people are entertaining at home; having guests for dinner and perhaps inviting them to stay over.  But, what happens if the Guest Room is now your office?  Do you find you have less overnight guests than you used to?  Would you like to be able to offer a bed to your dinner guests but unable to do so because the spare bed had to make way for a desk?

Or, you may have a regular overnight guest like a son or daughter who return periodically from their university studies or, an ageing relative you provide respite care meaning you have to keep your Guest Room.  So, working from home is not an option even though the spare room is not in regular use.
